Here read this! -Build help- please
Hi im new here
im just wondering what build u wud reccomend for me at the mom of time
i have a Me/Mo- lvl 10 E/N - 10 R/N-17
what build i wanted to get out of 1 of these was
a char tht was evil to fight
not sumthing that deals damage massivly but sumthing
thats simply hard to kill and can cast skills tht damage u
slowly but effectivly
now i enjoy my ranger simply because of apply poison ect...
but i created my Me/Mo today and i enjoyed it really badly
it seemed to PvE i rocked but in pvp i got owned
now i just read a thread about a Elementist being able to take 3 packs off
griffons and no get hurt much (wid defense)
i also read a comic that said Elementist rock
i dont know which to stick with

All the classes have their pluses and minuses. Depending on the skills you take you could be good in pvp for taking down warriors but terrible against spell casters, etc etc.
Without knowing the skills you have available to you (which probably won't be that many at level 10), nobody can really suggest what you can do.

It sounds as if you want a tanking character that does small amounts of damage.
That's bad. Really bad. It's by far the most common mistake newer players make. Your first goal should be to do awful things to the other team, unless you're a monk. If you're a monk, your entire goal should be to prevent awful things from happening to your team.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't pack any defense, it just means you shouldn't tank. Also, anyone running a geotank needs to be hit by a truck.
Eles and rangers both have plenty of fine builds. Remember, the game doesn't really start until level 20, so refrain from making any snap decisions until you can get a real build together.

Fixed for the sole purpose of the truth.
Each class has its ups and downs.
Mesmer is kind of hard to play in pve, especially without all campaigns+EotN(This is coming from someone who mained a mesmer at one point) but they are grrrreat in pvp!
Ranger is a very good choice, believe it or not.Especially for begginers. They just have a lot of qualities that catch your interest into the game.
